Several chefs and a live Mystery Box cooking challenge: the guests taste and vote.
Homecoming Chef's Jam
The BBQ Edition
When
Sunday 6 September 2026
Doors 13:30, 14:00 – 18:00
This edition has taken place.
For our third edition, Chef's Jam brought open fire, real craftsmanship and good company together at Oliveira's. Chef Emmo Achthoven (Moeth), guest chef Bryan Elroy Barron and SexyFlavors took over the grills and cooked side by side, with host Tracey Morais Soares guiding the afternoon.
The Mystery Box
The highlight was a live improvisation battle. Each chef opened a black box with one main ingredient: fish, meat, poultry or vegetable. Under time pressure they turned it into something new, while the guests stood right by the flames, tasted every round and cast their vote.
The winner
Guest chef Bryan Elroy Barron won the Mystery Box battle.

Chef, Moeth
Emmo Achthoven
Born in Paramaribo, raised in Amsterdam. His mother Ethel taught him the Surinamese kitchen; his curiosity took him further, across street food in Asia and haute cuisine in Europe. With over 25 years as a chef, his philosophy is simple. As his son Quincy once put it: when all the ingredients start dancing together, that's when you reach the most beautiful result.

Chef, SexyFlavors
Christian Manuel

Chef, SexyFlavors
Saul Silva Monteiro
Rotterdammer. Food king. His roots lie in the Cape Verdean kitchen, where his passion for cooking began. In his daily life he trains underprivileged young people to become chefs, using cooking to teach them values they carry beyond the kitchen.

Special guest chef, Mystery Box winner
Bryan Elroy Barron
Bryan grew up between his family's Surinamese garden parties, helping turn chicken over the fire as a kid. That love for open flame still shapes his style today. For him, barbecue is about more than food: the smell of smoke, the crackle of a perfectly controlled fire and beautifully grilled food make the whole experience.

Sunshine in every set
Marnix
Marnix's DJ story started by accident. While eating at a friend's restaurant, the DJ had to leave and he stepped in. The room loved it, and he was welcome back anytime. After a year or two on vinyl he moved to the Caribbean, playing salsa nights, reggae beaches and afro boat parties, where he earned the name Yònkuman: Papiamentu for "young guy". Back in Rotterdam he opened his living room for the first Housekamer parties. Today he mixes vinyl and digital, from Brazilian rhythms and baile funk to reggae, konpa and kizomba. Laid back or full on, always with sunshine in the tunes.
